A married couple, ten years in, asked me for new portraits one Sunday in March. They had a kitchen with a north-facing window. We did not leave the house. The whole session was forty-five minutes and most of that was tea.

Filed by Hadley · The day after

Delivered 84 photographs in three weeks. They printed three of them in a small print run, framed them, gave one to each of their mothers. The fourth went on the kitchen wall, opposite the window.
